Does my project require a building permit?

Yes, with very few exceptions all home remodeling projects require building permits.  We will verify with your city inspections department to determine if a permit is needed.

Are you licensed?

Yes, J3 Renovation & Design has a Minnesota Residential Building Contractor License and an EPA Lead Safe License.  Our Minnesota license number is BC583780 and our EPA number is NAT-86953-1

Do I have to use a licensed contractor?

Yes, Minnesota law requires all contractors to be licensed.

Are you insured?

Yes, J3 Renovation & Design carries complete liability and workman’s comp insurance.  In addition we ensure that all sub-contractors are properly licensed and insured as per state law. 

Do you offer financing?

J3 Property Services does not offer financing.  We recommend working with your personal bank for construction financing.

Do you use sub-contractors?

Yes, under some circumstances sub-contractors will be required, especially when electricians, plumbers, or HVAC techs are required.

Do you offer a warranty?

All labor and materials are warranted for 2 years.  There are also additional warranties that may be provided to you by state law.  A complete copy of the warranty is included in your estimate.

What is the EPA lead safe law?

In 2010 the EPA enacted a federal law requiring all contractors who work on homes built before 1978 to become trained and certified in practices for working with lead based paint safely.  If your home was built before 1978 you will be provided with additional information regarding this law and its requirements.

How do I verify your building contractor license?

You can go to the following website: www.dli.mn.gov, at that web site you can search for any contractor’s license or business and see the current status of the license and if there have been any disciplinary actions taken against the license.

How long have you been in business?

J3 Renovation & Design received our Minnesota Residential builder’s license in 2004.

Do handle insurance claims?

Yes, we can help you navigate the sometimes confusing world of insurance.  We will help you negotiate with your insurance company to make sure that your repairs are properly covered and paid for.
